Sex Therapy Lancashire

Sexual or relationship difficulties

Asking for help after any sexual trauma can be difficult.

Sexual Trauma

Asking for help after any sexual trauma such as non recent child sex abuse can be difficult. It takes a lot of courage to talk through your feelings and emotions. Sexual abuse can be committed against anyone regardless of their age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, culture or social status. A psychological therapist can provide you with a safe, supportive space to explore and work through the sexual trauma. Sex therapy Lancashire provides counselling and therapy for non recent childhood sexual abuse and the resulting difficulties. Our therapists work with you to understand your needs and support you throughout your therapeutic journey. Our therapists are available to address concerns that you may have from a traumatic experience.

Seeking help following sexual physical violence

Domestic violence, sexual assault, rape, and physical violence. Sexual trauma is subjective; how you perceive the impact is important. These impacts may challenge your daily life and relationships. Sexual trauma can negatively impact on your overall functioning and well being. Trauma can include emotional and physical abuse; for example, domestic violence, sexual assault, rape, and physical violence.

Difficulty with relationships following sexual trauma

People with a history of trauma may also have concerns around other psychological issues such as mental health, difficulty with relationships, sexuality, depression, anxiety and coping strategies that may have become harmful (e.g. substance use, pornography and gambling).

Trauma from motor accidents or military service

Therapists have experience of working with men, women, couples and individuals of different sexual orientations. They are also experienced in working with people with trauma from motor accidents or military service that has effected their sexual functions.

Together we mutually agree the best way forward

The initial consultation is an opportunity to explore your concerns, discuss what may be the underlying causes. Together we mutually agree the best way forward. Undertaking a sexual trauma treatment programme may include a weekly therapy session. You will never be asked to undertake a sexual task in a session.
